Christmas Eve 2015

The weather yesterday affected flights across the east coast. The storms in the Southeast caused a lot of damage and, at last report, 7 10 11 14 15 18 deaths. So, I really can't complain about altered travel plans.

On the good side - Delta keeps you informed as quickly as possible via email.

Got a total of 8 emails (so far - it's 10:30 AM Christmas Eve). Seven time changes and 1 cancellation.

I got to the airport after the 4th email schedule change. Went to the desk instead of the kiosk - and just as I was checking in - the flight was changed again. The desk agent said she didn't think there would actually be a 2 AM flight and re-booked me for today (Christmas Eve). (She was right - the original flight was cancelled about 2 hours later.)

No problem - went back to the parking lot and drove home. Was actually in the terminal for only about 30 minutes. So no big deal. Was in the long term parking lot a total of 53 minutes (per the time stamped receipt) - got charged the entire $6 daily rate!

Woke up this morning - checked email - new flight has been rescheduled 3 times overnight.

The latest schedule is leave Raleigh at 7:45 tonight and arrive Orlando at 9:37. Don't know what I'll do if it's delayed again. Sort of getting to the point where going to Winter Park for a meal is kind of pointless.

But - on the plus side - I'm not stuck at the airport. Will leave the house around 5-ish and see what happens when I get to RDU.

Again - could be a LOT worse.

Perhaps try an airport hotel. That will cut down on your commute ;)
